Graduate Program

Applications for our 2023 Graduate Program are Now Open!

If you are in the last semester of your degree, or completed your degree in the last 2 years, apply now to experience the MaxMine Graduate Program in 2023.

The MaxMine Graduate Program is a tailored 12-month journey providing a broad range of meaningful opportunities to build your technical skills, industry knowledge and connections, and project experience.

Why MaxMine?

Our purpose is to accelerate the sustainability of humanity’s scarce resources. This means we remove wasted time, effort and carbon via productivity improvements. We help equipment operators at our client sites have their best day at work by providing personalised feedback every shift, while helping the leadership teams make smarter decisions faster.

Mining has been a late starter to digital transformation, but to achieve Net Zero 2050, modern society needs mining to supply those resources more than ever before, and MaxMine has an obligation to help mining, and all of us, get to Net Zero. We know that there is more that can be done right now to improve operational efficiency and maximise immediate impact with current technologies.

With a growing client base, awesome new products in the MaxMine suite, and the world’s most advanced analytics, we have some of the most interesting projects that will shape careers for years to come. Through completing MaxMine’s graduate program, you will have a real impact on the business, our clients, and the world for everyone.

What will you be doing?

As a graduate at MaxMine, you are part of the team. We work hard and have a culture of constant learning and sharing, but we have fun too. You will join and contribute to our weekly “Lunch and Learn” sessions and then finish the week off on a light-hearted note at our “Gin and Topic” get-togethers.

You will be integrated into our teams working across various projects to ensure that you get an in-depth but diverse learning experience. Our graduate program doesn’t follow the typical rotation style structure, but is instead influenced by your interests and skills to provide a meaningful launchpad for your career.

You will develop your skills across one or more of our pathways:

Aerospace/Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineering

As a mechanical or mechatronic engineer, you can expect to spend time with our experienced engineers working on challenging analyses of large mining equipment and spend time with our operations team in the design of equipment installations.

Electrical/Electronic/Computer Systems Engineering

As an Electrical or Computer Systems engineer you can expect to spend time working on our embedded systems and getting hands on experience with the hardware side of our products.

Computer Science/Software Engineering

As a Computer Science graduate or Software engineer, you will get an opportunity to work on our extensive software stack, and get experience with the popular AWS infrastructure. You will spend time working across a wide range of our front end & cloud services and help us make our users awesome!

In conjunction with the technical skills you will develop, our graduate program includes weekly mentoring meetings where our team leads and executives will provide career advice, discuss opportunities for development and broaden the scope of your learning journey.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for graduates who are passionate about learning and developing. Our recruitment process focuses on creative, curious and positive attitudes. GPAs and uni results only tell part of the story, we are also interested in:

  • A multidisciplinary skill set — you don’t just swim in your lane
  • A learning mindset and a positive attitude — you believe that university study is just the beginning of your professional career learning
  • A desire to be involved in all aspects of the business — you have a drive to work in a commercial environment where you can create real value and have an impact
  • A desire to grow with the business — you are interested in exploring new career possibilities as the company’s rapid growth opens new doors

We want to know what you loved about your projects at uni, as well as what you learned through trial and error in your free time. Applications extended to 31 August 2022.

Tips for writing a strong application

Tailor your application
Ensure that your cover letter and resume are tailored towards the application and you demonstrate an understanding of the company and the job description. Although it can be time consuming to write new applications, a hiring manager can easily spot an <insert company here> style application.

Be concise
Bias towards clear and to-the-point language rather than flowery or hyperbolic. The easier it is to understand your message, the easier it is to find reasons to love your application. Avoid redundant, unnecessary tautology.

Show us don’t just tell us
Rather than listing all of your skills, focus on the key ones and explain them. Provide evidence of when you demonstrated a skill and if necessary, justify why it is relevant to the role.

Get feedback
Getting someone to read through your application with fresh eyes can help pick up issues or opportunities that you may not have noticed. In addition, if you know someone who has been involved in recruiting or managing a team, they might have some additional insight from a hiring manager’s perspective.

Tell us what makes you unique
Try and include experiences or skills that set you apart. We want to know what drives you, what you have enjoyed about your projects, what you have learned outside of school and uni. Avoid focusing on skills, uni courses or assignments that most people in your cohort could describe. Your application won’t be rejected because you left out “proficient in Microsoft Office”.
